HELP of Beaufort's mission is to provide emergency assistance to the
people of Beaufort County and surrounding areas with specific basic needs.

Emergency Food Assistance - The Food Pantry

pic4HELP of Beaufort provides food once every 30 days to those in need.

Once the client is approved by a HELP interviewer; the client will receive food from our Pantry.  The amount of food is dependent on how many are in the family. Keeping food on hand is a never ending task.  We receive USDA food and we purchase food from the Lowcountry Food Bank in Charleston, and we purchase food from local stores.  We also receive large amounts of food from individual donors, churches, schools, businesses, the yearly post office food drive, and other food drives. Our pantry depends on the community support that we receive.

Staple Food Items HELP is always in need of include:

Peanut Butter
Sugar (small bags)
Flour (small bags)
Grits (small bags)
Vegetable Oil
Canned Meats
Canned Tuna
Canned Beef Stew
Canned Vegetables
Boxed Macaroni & Cheese
Boxed Dry Cereal
Saltine Crackers

Many church congregations have food drives as do many Beaufort County Schools to help keep shelves full of nutritional foods. We welcome donations from the public as well. A number of young students have turned their birthday parties into a canned food drive for HELP of Beaufort. Abigail Henry, Jack McDougal and Gavin Midgette have all asked their friends to bring canned food to their birthday parties instead of gifts.
